SALT OF THE EARTH FOOD BANK

Salt of the Earth started in 1992 as an outreach to teens on the streets of Everett. Sandra Richards partnered with a dynamic 83 year old woman named Mildred Yager who had a heart for these kids. Sandra began providing sack lunches for the teens. It started with 5 youth and word got around and it was soon 35. By this time, she was also making a hot meal. It was getting expensive for their limited income so she asked local grocery stores if they could help in any way. The stores were generous and before she knew what was happening, she was feeding teens and adults. For 3 years Sandra was picking up food 365 days a year making sack lunches, hot meals and food baskets.

Then God sent others to volunteer their time and effort to enable them to reach more people in the community. More food banks were opened and a van was donated.

We have 5 thriving food blessing locations in the area along with mercy housing and senior housing food drops. Our organization is run by the love and compassion of our volunteers working together as the body of Christ. We rally together with the same heart and vision, serving our community.
